Award Winning Arlington Facade Transformation
2017 NARI CotY Grand Prize winner for the Residential Addition between $100-250K category
The project's challenges:
-
Remove the entire two level front of an occupied home and replace with a new front addition and craftsman style front porch.
-
A massive brick fireplace and chimney were removed further opening up the entry and front two rooms of the house.
-
The family room and living room were expanded and a home office, new entry, foyer, and coat closet were created on the first floor.
-
A double pocket door was installed to bring the kitchen into the family room, glass backsplash and under-cabinet lighting were added to the kitchen, and additional renovations were performed in the dining room and playroom.
-
On the second level the addition allowed for walk-in closets to be added to two bedrooms and the creation of light-filled home office above the porch.
-
The original boiler and hot-water heater were removed and a new Slant Fin high-efficiency combination unit was installed.
-
Original oversized cast iron radiators and outdated copper-fin radiators were replaced with new Runtal steel radiators.
The entire character of the front of the home was changed – a truly unique and amazing transformation.
